Greetings. In the past few days, there has been much confusion and talk regarding what the Society believes, where we are going, and what views we hold dear. This document is an attempt to lay down our views in a civil, nonaggressive manner (the only manner we will ever use). The Society believes in balance and the protection of nature, similar to the Order of the Tsayadim. However, we also believe that the advancement of knowledge, specifically, metaphysics, magic, and science, are key to reviving the old ways of the Aosdan civilization. We seek a revival of this age, but without the hubris that led to the destruction of that great civilization. We believe that we have evolved and grown to the point where we can use the knowledge of the Aosda responsibly. We seek... a reinassance, in a way. A world in which Aislings can advance both their minds and their bodies. A world in which every Aisling is free to do or say as they like. Free exchange of ideas and knowledge in a supportive, friendly environment, where Aislings are equally at home speaking on culture and science as they are hunting or slaying monsters. On politics and guilds: It is the official position of the Society that guild domination of politics is a threat to the stability of Temuarian society. As such, the Society will meet, on all fronts, attempts to dominate or intimidate the Temuarian governments. We believe that to be effective, politics must not fall into the hands of a hegemony populated by members of one specific culture. ((We feel that politics is essential to preserving and enhancing our RP community, and domination by one point of view would be counter towards this goal, as we would be modeling all of Temuairan society off of one specific view of justice (i.e what is OOC, what is punishable, etc) )). It is our view that politics must become a diverse arena in which any Aisling can pursue their own political agenda. On other guilds: Runic Terra welcomes and hopes to see more guilds arise in the future. We are not in competition with or at war with any guilds, nor do we plan to be. The Society's position is that strife among guilds can only cause harm to the stability of Temuarian society. The Society also will not and does not actively recruit members. We are a close-knit family, and we feel that those who are interested in the Society will seek us out. We present all guilds equally, as we did at the first open meeting of the Society. Aislings who wished to join were told equally of the Society, the Tsayadim (if they were a monk), the Court of Unseelie, and Azure Moon. On light and darkness: There is some confusion on this issue. Runic Terra does not specifically conform to any specific ideology, besides that enumerated in the Runic Rede (which can be viewed at our embassy at the Province of Mide). It is, however, our belief that the dubhaimid are not of this world, and therefore are a threat to the balance of nature. It is also our view that when Darkness encroaches and threatens the lives of Aislings, it needs to be driven back. It is not, however, our goal to destroy Darkness. You could say that our goal is to contain it - to balance it. Equal light and darkness - Nature's balance. We seek to prevent it from destroying the cities and villages of Temuair. To prevent it from claiming the lives of Aislings and sending them to Sgrios. A world of darkness is not the reinassance world we seek. Those who seek to actively promote and encourage worship of the dubhaimid, darkness, or Sgrios are our enemies, because they threaten what we hold dear: freedom of belief, philosophy, and will. Darkness is the most deadly of hegemonies, and must be prevented from overwhelming Temuair. For if we even allow it to advance an inch, in an instant, we will be overwhelmed. On our base of operations: When it is possible, through agreements with mundanes and financial support from the members, we will build our headquarters in Rucesion. We have several reasons for choosing this city. Mainly, it is halfway between each "section" of Temuair, mainly, Loures/Piet and the Abel/Mileth corridor. The city is dear to many members as they were either born or raised there. Rucesion is also the birthplace of Light, as you know, and we hold that dear to us. It is a coastal city, near the Castle of the Dubhaimid. It is our goal to be able to protect the city in the event that the dubhaimid decide to venture outside the realms of the Castle. On our leadership: The Society is not ruled by one individual. It is ruled by a group of four honored Aislings: the Circle of Elders. The circle consists of myself, Katrionah Rosalette, my wife Chloe, and my sister Twila. However, the entire Society is involved in the progression and development of rules, regulations, and procedures. The Circle of Elders serves mainly as a regulatory body to gather and discuss the diverse ideas of our members and hammer them into Society policy. --- This is the official position of the Runic Terra Society. It is what we espouse and hold dear. We welcome other guilds to come forth and make similar statements, and I thank you for taking the time to read this document, lengthy as it is. In peace, freedom, and understanding, -Kedian Ta'Null Royal Scholar and Mystic Runic Terra Society
